Funnel
2022

Funnel was a site-specific installation that premiered at PLAY/GROUND 2022 inside of Buffalo NY’s now-abaondoned GLF Grain Elevators in Silo City. This installation explored how the past and present meet under underneath one of the silo’s steel hoppers. Audiences were invited to create “home” out of homemade playdough. The playdough recipe used both barley and malt, the type of grains processed during the height of Buffalo’s grain industry which revolutionized grain handling in America and shaped Buffalo’s values, labor, communities and politics. Over the duration of PLAY/GROUND, audiences placed their artworks on a fixed conveyor belt and around the room to create a growing portrait of Buffalo.
