Auto Portrait Spectacular

Curated by Alberto Aguilar for the 2024 Chicago Humanities Festival, I created an installation on my car to confront one of my biggest fears of being in an accident: I created an inflatable self portrait of myself being hit by my own vehicle. Inside the car, over 30 flashing emergency lights grew more visible as day turned to night. The piece works to suspend a moment of imagined crisis, inviting engagement with the absurd, the uncanny, and the precariousness of life.
